Negro Leagues Baseball Museum Branding
The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum states their purpose as being dedicated to preserving the rich history of African American Baseball. Their current branding is stale, outdated, and does not speak to the personality or mission of the museum. After researching and discovering their goals, I centered my concept around two words: breaking barriers. The museum has defied odds and broken barriers much like the heroes they celebrate.

Color:
The colors are nostalgic, taking notes from baseball cards of the 1930’s and 1940’s. The color names are Monarch Red, Sandlot, Charcoal, Cool, and Strike, paying homage to iconic teams and players in the league.

Design Language:
Line is used as a metaphor to portray the many barriers these players faced, including segregation. Bold, active imagery interacts with these lines to give a fresh approach to the imagery. The lines were combined in different patterns to create abstractions of iconic baseball imagery, such as chain link fencing. The logo was also pulled apart to create a diagonal pattern to be used in branding materials and web.
